Club Membership Fee 2014/15 Season
Club Membership Fee 2014/15 Season
The 2014/15 season is getting nearer and that means that your current membership with Triathlon Australia is coming to an end and it will be time to renew in the near future. What you will notice this time round while signing up is an additional fee on top of your Triathlon Australia Membership Fee of either $20 if you are an Adult or $10 if you are a Junior. The reason for this fee is due to some changes that have occurred within Triathlon Tasmania and the way that membership fees are distributed to the clubs.
In the early part of the 2013/14 the Triathlon Tasmanian board opted to reduce the amount of money that is paid from your TA membership to the clubs. Tasmania is the only state in Australia where a redistribution of TA membership has been passed onto regional clubs.
As the role of TT in Triathlon has increased it has put constraints on the ability of TT to operate as a volunteer body. As such a request was made for part funding from Triathlon Australia to enable TT to hire a part time Executive Director to represent Tasmania at a national level and to promote the sport locally as well as assisting the clubs. This request was granted by Triathlon Australia on the basis that the role becomes self-funded by Triathlon Tasmania over a determined time frame. To do this each club will no longer receive any membership fee funds from TT which has led to each club imposing a separate club membership fee.
While I do understand that any decision that leads to our members paying more to be involved in the sport will be contentious I feel that this decision at a state level will only improve the sport we all love and ensure that Triathlon continues to develop in Tasmania. Each of the three clubs have opted to keep the club membership fees as low as possible.

Bupa Kidfit Triathlon Series
What is the KidFit Triathlon?
The Bupa KidFit Triathlon is an annual longstanding event that gives children across Tasmania the chance to have fun and be active in a friendly and supportive environment. The KidFit Triathlon is not a team-based event – it is an individual event designed to test you against the only other person who matters – YOU!
Our main focus is on participation, and making sure everyone has fun. All participants will automatically be entered into a draw to win fantastic prizes, so even if you aren’t the first over the finish line, you could still win!
We encourage all children to enter into the Triathlon – the Bupa KidFit Triathlon is open to all children between the ages of 7 to 15, regardless of their individual fitness level or sporting background.
In past years, we have allowed team entry for events at New Norfolk. However, we have found that despite this, most children end up participating as individuals. So we have decided to keep it that way. In New Norfolk, we will still accept limited team entries if special circumstances are warranted.
How long is the KidFit Triathlon?
To get an idea of how long your Triathlon will be, have a look at this helpful table:
|7 and 8 year-olds||25m||1km||400m|
|9 and 10 year-olds||50m||1.5km||600m|
|11 and 12 year-olds||75m||2km||1km|
Remember that the distances shown above are only an indication, and may vary between locations. It’s also important to note that participants do not need to know how to swim. While swimming is encouraged, children who are unable to swim will be able to wade through the water at a suitable depth for their age group.
The Bupa KidFit Triathlon is tailored to suit children of all ages, making it a fun and all-inclusive experience. However, it is a good idea to get some practice in before the event day. Make sure you check out our Training Program for some great tips on how to be completely ready for your Triathlon!
